Sodium Lignosulfonate in Construction and Agriculture
Sodium lignosulfonate is a natural polyelectrolyte produced as a by-product of the sulfite paper-pulping process. Its polysulfonated structure provides strong adsorption onto cementite, calcium silicate hydrate, and mineral surfaces, making it an effective, cost-competitive concrete water reducer and dispersant. At low dosage (0.1–0.3% bwc) it reduces water demand by 8–12% while retarding setting, suitable for hot-weather concrete placement. In agriculture it binds feed pellets and controls dust on unpaved haul roads and stockpiles.
Grades and Supply
We supply sodium lignosulfonate in spray-dried powder (25 kg and 500 kg bags) and 50% liquid (IBC and bulk tanker). COA includes dry-matter content, pH, and sulphonate content (if required). SDS is provided. Lignosulfonate is not classified as a hazardous substance under standard transport regulations.
Applications
- Concrete plasticiser and water reducer
- Animal feed pellet binder
- Dust-suppression agent on roads and mine sites
- Mineral ore flotation modifier
- Tanning and leather retanning agent
