What Is Glucosamine Hydrochloride?

Glucosamine hydrochloride is the stabilised HCl salt of glucosamine, an amino monosaccharide that is a natural constituent of cartilage, tendons, and synovial fluid. It is derived by hydrolysis of crustacean shells (chitin) or through fermentation. The HCl salt offers higher glucosamine content and better stability than glucosamine sulphate, making it preferred for precise dosing in feed applications.

Joint Health and Cartilage Support

Glucosamine is a substrate for the biosynthesis of glycosaminoglycans — the structural polymers of cartilage matrix. Supplementation in ageing dogs, horses with osteoarthritis, and working animals with high joint stress provides substrate for cartilage repair and may reduce the rate of cartilage degradation. Clinical trials in companion animals show improvements in mobility, pain scores, and quality of life metrics.
