What is Vitamin D3?

Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is the animal-derived form of Vitamin D that is the biologically active and superior supplemental choice for all livestock species compared to Vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol). It is converted in the liver and kidney to 25-hydroxycholecalciferol and then 1,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol (calcitriol), the hormonally active form that regulates calcium and phosphorus absorption, bone mineralisation, and immune function.
