Chlorinated Paraffins in PVC and Metalworking

Chlorinated paraffins (CPs) are produced by chlorinating n-paraffin fractions to various chlorine contents. In PVC processing they serve as secondary plasticisers and flame retardants, reducing cost while improving fire performance. In metalworking lubricants, high-chlorine CPs provide extreme-pressure (EP) lubrication for heavy-duty cutting, broaching, and threading operations. Regulatory restrictions apply to short-chain CPs (C10–C13) under REACH and Stockholm Convention; Terracore supplies medium- and long-chain grades.

Grades and Packaging

We offer medium-chain (C14–C17) and long-chain (C18–C30) chlorinated paraffins at chlorine contents from 42% to 70%. Available in 200 L steel drums and IBC totes. COA reports chlorine content, viscosity, and specific gravity. SDS includes regulatory classification and disposal guidance.

Applications

  • PVC flame retardant and plasticiser
  • Metalworking and cutting fluid additive
  • Adhesive and sealant modifier
  • Rubber flame retardant
  • Paint and coating auxiliary
