About the 7-12-40 PLUS Blend

The 7-12-40 PLUS NPK blend carries the highest potassium content in the PLUS range at 40% K₂O, with a low nitrogen level of 7% and moderate phosphorus at 12%. This formulation is designed for the final weeks before harvest, when potassium demand is at its peak for sugar loading, cell expansion, and quality development, while excess nitrogen would delay ripening and reduce fruit solids. The PLUS micronutrient package supports continued canopy function and nutrient uptake through harvest.

Application in Crop Programs

The 7-12-40 blend is typically introduced 4–6 weeks before expected harvest in high-value fruit crops including table grapes, stone fruit, citrus, melons, and strawberries. It is also used in the final colour and quality phase for tomatoes, capsicums, and sweet peppers where high Brix and firmness are critical for export markets. Some growers also use it in post-harvest programs to rebuild tree or vine carbohydrate reserves before dormancy. It is often combined with calcium programs in the same period to maintain cell wall integrity and reduce cracking or splitting.
