Para-Dichlorobenzene in Pest Control and Polymer Synthesis
Para-dichlorobenzene (p-DCB) is the isomer used commercially in moth-repellent blocks, lavatory deodorant cakes, and space deodorants due to its controlled sublimation and insecticidal/bactericidal vapour pressure at ambient temperatures. Industrially it is the monomer for polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), a high-performance engineering thermoplastic used in electrical connectors, automotive parts, and chemical processing equipment. p-DCB is also an intermediate for dyes, pharmaceuticals, and agrochemicals.
Packaging and Supply
Para-dichlorobenzene is supplied as white crystals or powder in 25 kg woven PP bags or 50 kg fibre drums. Terracore stocks both technical and formulation grades. COA (purity, melting point, ortho/meta isomer content) and SDS are provided with each shipment.
Applications
- Moth repellent and space deodorant products
- Fumigant for stored textile and food-pest control
- Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) monomer feedstock
- Dye intermediate synthesis
- Insecticide formulations
- Chemical intermediate
