Commercial Explosives Supplier for Licensed Mining Operations

Bulk and packaged explosives, detonators, and boosters, supplied from South Africa to licensed blasting operations, with full regulatory compliance.

Terracore Chemicals is a commercial explosives supplier to licensed mining and blasting operations, supplying bulk and packaged explosives, detonators, shock tube and signal line, boosters, and initiating compounds for supply to licensed explosives and detonator manufacturers. As a dedicated commercial explosives supplier, our range covers the full blast circuit, from the bulk explosive charge through to the initiating system that sets it off.

All products in this category are regulated substances. Supply is restricted to licensed mining and blasting operations with valid end-user documentation and explosives licensing, in line with South African explosives regulation. This is not a self-service catalogue,  every enquiry in this category goes through a verification step before pricing or specifications are shared. Looking for a different product line? Understanding Our Explosives Categories

What each product family is used for across the blast circuit.

Bulk & Packaged Explosives

Powdery Emulsion Explosive and Colloidal Emulsion Explosive are water-resistant bulk explosives used as the primary blast charge in open-pit and underground mining, offering different viscosity and pumpability characteristics suited to different loading methods. Expanded AN Explosive (ammonium nitrate-based) is a lower-cost bulk explosive option for dry blast holes. As a commercial explosives supplier, we supply these to licensed mining operations for primary blasting applications.

Electric Detonators

Seismic Electric Detonators are used in geophysical survey and exploration blasting, built for anti-static and water-resistant performance in demanding field conditions. Magneto Electric Detonators are designed with stray-current resistance for sites near electrical infrastructure or powerlines where induced current is a risk. Industry Electric Detonators cover standard electric initiation for general mining and construction blasting.

Electronic Detonators

Digital Electronic Detonators offer programmable delay timing from 0 to 16,000 milliseconds, giving blast engineers precise control over detonation sequencing across a full blast pattern — improving fragmentation, reducing vibration, and controlling flyrock compared to fixed-delay systems.

Shock Tube (Non-Electric) Detonators

Shock Tube Detonators and the High-Strength, High-Precision variant use a non-electric shock tube initiation system, making them a preferred choice on sites where stray electrical current or radio frequency risk makes electric detonators unsuitable.

Shock Tube & Signal Line

High-Strength Shock Tube (VOD ≥2000m/s) and Plastic Shock Tube (VOD ≥1600m/s) carry the initiation signal from the blasting machine or starter to each detonator across a blast pattern, with the higher-VOD grade suited to more demanding timing-critical applications.

Boosters & Delay Components

Boosters are used to reliably initiate insensitive bulk explosives that a detonator alone cannot set off directly, bridging the gap between the detonator’s initiation energy and the main explosive charge. High-Precision Delay Elements, available from 25ms to 10,000ms, provide the timing control used in non-electric shock tube blasting systems.

Initiating & Priming Compounds

Lead Stypnate and Tetrazene are primary explosive compounds used in detonator and priming compound manufacturing, supplied to licensed explosives manufacturers rather than end-use blasting customers. Pentaerythritol Tetranitrate (PETN) is a high explosive used as a booster and detonating cord core charge. Barium Nitrate is used as an oxidizer in pyrotechnic and delay compositions. All four are heavily regulated raw materials supplied only to verified, appropriately licensed manufacturers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can purchase from Terracore’s explosives range?

Only licensed mining and blasting operations, or licensed explosives/detonator manufacturers for the raw initiating compounds, with valid end-user documentation and explosives licensing in line with South African regulation.

What information do you need before quoting?

Your explosives licence details, the specific products and quantities required, and your operation’s location — get in touch and we’ll guide you through the verification step.

Do you supply both bulk explosives and initiation systems?

Yes — as a commercial explosives supplier we cover the full blast circuit, from bulk and packaged explosive charges through to detonators, shock tube, boosters, and delay components.

Can I get technical specification sheets?

Yes, full technical documentation is available to verified licensed customers for every product in this range.

Do you export explosives internationally?

Explosives are subject to strict cross-border transport and import/export licensing in every jurisdiction. Contact us directly with your destination country and licensing details to discuss whether supply is possible.

How Explosives Purchasing Works

Buying from a commercial explosives supplier is different from ordering any other product on this site; nothing in this category is available on a self-service basis, and no pricing or technical specification is shared until your operation’s licensing has been verified. In practice, this means having your explosives licence and relevant permits ready when you first make contact, along with details of the specific products, quantities, and delivery site required.

Most licensed mining and quarrying operations already have this documentation on hand for their existing explosives supply relationships, so the process is usually straightforward for an established operation switching suppliers or adding a second source. For the initiating and priming compounds specifically, Lead Stypnate, Tetrazene, PETN, and Barium Nitrate- supply is limited further still, to licensed detonator and explosives manufacturers rather than end-use blasting operations. As a commercial explosives supplier operating under South African regulation, we’re not able to shortcut this process for any customer, regardless of order size or urgency.
