What Is Potassium Nitrate?
Potassium Nitrate (KNO₃) is a fully water-soluble, chloride-free fertilizer supplying 13% nitrogen in the nitrate form and 46% K₂O. The nitrate form of nitrogen is the preferred nitrogen source for plant uptake in many crops and is particularly effective in fertigation programs where rapid uptake is desired. Potassium Nitrate is widely used in high-value horticulture, greenhouse production, and intensive fruit growing.
Potassium Nitrate in Fertigation
In fertigation programs, Potassium Nitrate is a standard component of the potassium and nitrogen supply, especially in the later stages of crop development when potassium demand peaks and nitrogen rates are being managed. Its combination of chloride-free K and nitrate N makes it compatible with a wide range of crops including citrus, grapes, stone fruit, tomatoes, peppers, and leafy vegetables. It is also used in foliar sprays to rapidly correct potassium deficiency visible in the canopy.
