AEEA as a Chelant and Curing Precursor

Aminoethylethanolamine is a bifunctional compound carrying both a primary amine and a hydroxyl group, making it highly reactive as a chelant intermediate and epoxy curing agent. It is the starting material for several EDTA-type chelants used in water treatment, cleaning products, and agricultural micronutrient formulations. In gas treatment, AEEA-based solvents selectively absorb CO₂ from process gas streams.

Supply and Handling

AEEA is a corrosive alkaline liquid requiring stainless steel or HDPE containers. Terracore supplies in 200 L drums and 1,000 L IBCs. SDS and COA are provided with each shipment, including guidance on appropriate PPE and spill management.

Applications

  • EDTA and chelant synthesis precursor
  • Textile processing auxiliary
  • Corrosion inhibitor formulation
  • Epoxy curing agent
  • Gas treating (CO₂ absorption)
  • Paper wet-strength resin
