HBVE in Fluoropolymer and Crosslinkable Coatings
Hydroxybutyl vinyl ether is a hydroxyl-functional vinyl ether monomer used to introduce crosslinkable hydroxyl groups into fluoropolymer resins, most notably the FEVE (fluoroethylene-vinyl ether) class of weather-resistant coatings. FEVE resins cured with isocyanate hardeners provide exceptional UV, chemical, and weathering resistance, making them the coating of choice for architectural structures, bridges, and solar-panel modules requiring 20-year durability. HBVE can also be used in other cationically or free-radically polymerisable systems requiring hydroxyl functionality.
Supply and Quality
Terracore supplies HBVE in 180 kg drums. Given its hydroxyl functionality, moisture exposure must be minimised during storage. COA reports HBVE assay (GC), hydroxyl value, acid value, and water content. SDS is provided.
Applications
- FEVE fluoropolymer weather-resistant coating
- Isocyanate-crosslinkable vinyl ether resin
- Architectural and industrial topcoat
- Photovoltaic module coating
- Hydroxyl-functional adhesive polymer
- Functional resin synthesis
