What Is Diammonium Phosphate (DAP)?

Diammonium Phosphate (DAP) is a granular fertilizer supplying 18% nitrogen and 46% phosphorus pentoxide (P₂O₅). It is one of the highest-analysis phosphate fertilizers available and is widely used as a basal application in arable crop production and as a key phosphate raw material in compound NPK manufacturing. DAP granules dissolve in soil moisture to release ammonium and phosphate ions, which are rapidly taken up by plant roots.

DAP vs MAP in Blending

DAP and MAP are the two primary phosphate sources used in fertilizer blending. DAP carries a higher nitrogen content (18% vs 11%) and a slightly lower P₂O₅ content (46% vs 52%) compared to MAP. The choice between them depends on the target NPK grade, cost per unit of nutrient, and soil pH considerations. DAP has an alkaline reaction in soil, making it more suitable for acid soils, while MAP’s acidic reaction suits alkaline soils. Blenders often use both products to optimise grade and cost.

Sourcing DAP From Terracore

Terracore supplies granular DAP from established production sources in 25 kg and 50 kg bags and bulk. We maintain stock to support blending programs and can meet seasonal demand peaks. Full technical and safety documentation is supplied with every consignment.
