Sodium Naphthalene Sulphonate as a Superplasticiser
Sodium naphthalene sulphonate–formaldehyde condensate (SNF) is the most widely used first-generation concrete superplasticiser. Adsorbing onto cement particle surfaces, it increases electrostatic repulsion between particles, dramatically reducing water demand while maintaining workability. SNF-type superplasticisers achieve water reduction of 15–25%, enabling higher-strength concrete mixes. The same dispersant mechanism makes SNF an effective dispersant for dyes, pigments, and agrochemical powders.
Grades and Packaging
Terracore supplies SNF in spray-dried powder (high-concentration) and liquid forms. Powder is packed in 25 kg paper bags or 500 kg bulk bags. Liquid 40% grades are available in 1,000 L IBCs. COA reports active content, sulphate content, and moisture. SDS is provided.
Applications
- Concrete superplasticiser (high-range water reducer)
- Dye and pigment dispersant
- Pesticide wettable powder dispersant
- Tanning and leather auxiliary
- Cement grinding aid
- Gypsum retarder in wallboard
