Chloroprene Rubber Properties and Uses
Polychloroprene (tradename Neoprene®) is a versatile synthetic rubber with outstanding resistance to ozone, UV, heat, oil, and weathering — properties that natural rubber and many other synthetics cannot match. It is the rubber of choice in contact adhesives because it forms immediate, high-strength bonds. Chloroprene rubber is also vulcanised into a wide range of extruded and moulded sealing components used in automotive, construction, and industrial environments.
Grades and Supply
Terracore supplies solid polychloroprene chips and crumb rubber in a range of Mooney viscosities and crystallisation rates suited to adhesive, moulded, and extruded applications. Material is packaged in moisture-barrier polyethylene-lined kraft paper bags (25 kg) on pallets. COA and SDS are provided with each shipment.
Applications
- Contact adhesives and bonding systems
- Wetsuits, gloves, and protective apparel
- Industrial gaskets and seals
- Conveyor belts and hoses
- Automotive hose and weather-strip
- Foam padding and cushioning
