Pentaerythritol in Resins and Lubricants
Pentaerythritol (PE) is a polyol with four hydroxymethyl groups that enable high-functionality esterification reactions. In the coatings industry, PE-based alkyd resins offer faster drying and better film hardness than glycerol-based systems. Rosin esters of PE are important tackifiers in pressure-sensitive adhesives and hot-melt formulations. PE esters with fatty acids are among the highest-performance synthetic lubricants, used in aviation, refrigeration compressors, and high-temperature industrial gearboxes.
Grades and Packaging
We supply mono-pentaerythritol (98% monomer content) and technical grade (mixed mono/di) in 25 kg paper bags, 500 kg bulk bags, and 20 MT road tanker (melt) on request. COA reports hydroxyl value, melting point, and moisture. SDS is provided.
Applications
- Alkyd resin and surface-coating production
- Rosin ester tackifier synthesis
- Neopentyl glycol co-product streams
- Synthetic lubricant (pentaerythritol esters)
- Intumescent fire-retardant charring agent
- PETN explosive precursor (controlled)
