MDEA in Gas Treatment

Methyldiethanolamine is the industry-standard tertiary amine for selective removal of hydrogen sulfide from natural gas and refinery streams. Unlike primary and secondary amines, MDEA absorbs H₂S rapidly while being kinetically selective against CO₂ at low CO₂/H₂S ratios, reducing energy consumption in regeneration. Activated MDEA blends with piperazine or other promoters are widely used for bulk CO₂ removal in LNG and hydrogen production plants.

Supply to Gas-Processing and Chemical Industries

Terracore supplies MDEA in 200 L drums and 1,000 L IBCs. Gas-treating grade includes specification for water content, iron content, and MDEA assay. Pharmaceutical-synthesis grade is available on request with additional purity documentation. Full SDS and COA are standard with each delivery.

Applications

  • Selective H₂S absorption in natural gas treating
  • CO₂ removal from syngas and flue gas
  • Pharmaceutical synthesis building block
  • Corrosion inhibitor formulation
  • Surfactant and detergent production
  • Cosmetic pH adjuster
