TETA as an Epoxy Hardener
Triethylenetetramine is a widely used epoxy hardener, particularly where ambient cure speed, chemical resistance, and adhesion to metal substrates are required. TETA-cured epoxies are used in protective coatings for pipelines, structural steel, and concrete. As a chemical intermediate, TETA is the basis for polyamide hardeners produced by reacting it with dimer fatty acids, yielding flexible, blush-resistant curing agents.
Supply and Safety
TETA is a corrosive and sensitizing liquid. Terracore supplies in 200 L steel drums with full SDS and COA. Amine value, colour, and viscosity data are reported on the COA. Skin sensitization hazard declarations are included in the SDS for formulator compliance.
Applications
- Ambient-cure epoxy hardener
- Polyamide and polyimidazoline synthesis
- Chelating agent precursor (TTHA)
- Fuel and lubricant additive
- Asphalt modifier
- Paper and pulp additives
