TEPA in Epoxy and Environmental Applications
Tetraethylenepentamine is a high-molecular-weight ethyleneamine with five nitrogen atoms, providing a high amine value and reactivity. Its commercial grade is a mixture of TEPA and heavier ethyleneamine oligomers. TEPA-cured epoxy coatings are especially resistant to chemical attack. The growing interest in carbon capture has made TEPA important as a supported amine sorbent for post-combustion CO₂ removal.
Supply and Typical Specifications
Terracore supplies commercial-grade TEPA (typically ≥ 95% purity range, distributed across oligomers). Available in 200 L steel drums. Full amine value, color (Pt-Co), and viscosity data are included in the COA. SDS covering corrosive and sensitizing hazards is provided.
Applications
- High-functionality epoxy hardener
- Polyamide resin synthesis
- CO₂ capture and gas treatment
- Chelating agent for heavy metals
- Paper dry-strength additive
- Fuel corrosion inhibitor
