DETA as an Epoxy Hardener and Chemical Building Block

Diethylenetriamine is among the most widely used aliphatic amine hardeners for epoxy systems. Its three active amine hydrogens provide rapid curing at ambient temperature, producing coatings and adhesives with good chemical resistance. As a chemical building block, DETA is the precursor to DTPA (diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid), an important chelating agent used in water treatment, photography, and medical imaging.

Supply and Documentation

Terracore maintains DETA in stock for supply to coatings formulators, resin manufacturers, and chemical processors. Available in 200 L steel drums and IBCs. Hazard category: corrosive/harmful. Complete SDS and COA, including amine value titration data, are provided with each delivery.

Applications

  • Epoxy resin curing agent
  • DTPA chelant synthesis
  • Paper wet-strength resin production
  • Fuel and lubricant additive
  • Corrosion inhibitor for oil and gas
  • Asphalt emulsifier
