Industrial Significance of Acetic Acid
Acetic acid is a foundational platform chemical. Its largest global application is in the production of vinyl acetate monomer, the precursor to PVA and PVAC resins. The textile industry consumes substantial volumes for dyeing and as a pH adjuster, while the food industry uses it at food grade as a preservative and flavouring agent. Glacial acetic acid is the anhydrous form used in chemical synthesis.
