Potassium Cocoate Supplier South Africa

What Is Potassium Cocoate?

Potassium cocoate is the potassium salt of coconut oil fatty acids, produced by saponification of coconut oil with potassium hydroxide. Unlike sodium soaps (which produce hard bars), potassium soaps are soft to liquid at room temperature — making potassium cocoate the functional base of liquid soaps, soft soaps, shaving creams, and liquid soap concentrates. Its coconut fatty acid profile provides a balanced ratio of C8–C14 chains that foam well across a range of water temperatures and hardness levels.

Performance and Eco-Credential

Potassium cocoate produces a rich, dense, creamy lather with excellent skin feel and rinsability. Its natural origin from a renewable feedstock and complete biodegradability make it the preferred surfactant for eco-label, natural, and organic product certifications (ECOCERT, COSMOS, NaTrue). As a soap-based surfactant it is sensitive to water hardness (calcium and magnesium ions precipitate soap scum), so formulators working with hard water should include chelants or use lower inclusion rates supplemented with synthetic co-surfactants.

應用與供應

Terracore Chemicals supplies potassium cocoate as a 30–40% aqueous solution for liquid soap manufacture, industrial hand cleaner production, and eco-certified cleaning product formulation. We advise on optimal pairing with chelants, co-surfactants, and pH adjusters to achieve stable, high-performance liquid soap concentrates.
