Chii chinonzi L-Citrulline?
L-Citrulline is a non-proteinogenic amino acid naturally found in watermelon and produced endogenously in the urea cycle. It is a precursor to L-Arginine in the body and an indirect source of nitric oxide, with advantages in bioavailability over direct arginine supplementation in some species. Feed-grade L-Citrulline is supplied as a fine white crystalline powder.
Basa muKudya Kwemhuka
L-Citrulline supports nitric oxide synthesis more efficiently than direct arginine supplementation in some species because it bypasses hepatic first-pass extraction. In equine nutrition, it is used to support muscular blood flow and recovery. In pigs, citrulline supplementation during gestation has shown benefits for foetal development, uterine blood flow, and litter size. Its role in intestinal function and gut barrier integrity is also under active research.
