Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) Feed Grade Supplier South Africa

Hva er vitamin D3?

Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is the animal-derived form of Vitamin D that is the biologically active and superior supplemental choice for all livestock species compared to Vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol). It is converted in the liver and kidney to 25-hydroxycholecalciferol and then 1,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol (calcitriol), the hormonally active form that regulates calcium and phosphorus absorption, bone mineralisation, and immune function. Feed-grade D3 is supplied in stabilised beadlet forms to withstand pelleting and storage conditions.

Roll i dyreernæring

Vitamin D3 is critical for maintaining calcium homeostasis and skeletal integrity in all species. In broilers, D3 deficiency causes rickets, lameness, and reduced growth performance. In layers, inadequate D3 leads to thin-shelled eggs, cage layer fatigue, and osteoporosis. In dairy cows, D3 and its metabolites are central to the prevention of hypocalcaemia (milk fever) around calving. Modern research also confirms broad immunomodulatory roles for vitamin D3 in regulating innate and adaptive immune responses.
