Hva er L-Citrulline?

L-Citrulline is a non-proteinogenic amino acid naturally found in watermelon and produced endogenously in the urea cycle. It is a precursor to L-Arginine in the body and an indirect source of nitric oxide, with advantages in bioavailability over direct arginine supplementation in some species. Feed-grade L-Citrulline is supplied as a fine white crystalline powder.

L-Citrulline supports nitric oxide synthesis more efficiently than direct arginine supplementation in some species because it bypasses hepatic first-pass extraction. In equine nutrition, it is used to support muscular blood flow and recovery. Its role in intestinal function and gut barrier integrity is also under active research.
