What Is Potassium Cocoate?

Potassium cocoate is the potassium salt of coconut oil fatty acids, produced by saponification of coconut oil with potassium hydroxide. Unlike sodium soaps (which produce hard bars), potassium soaps are soft to liquid at room temperature — making potassium cocoate the functional base of liquid soaps, soft soaps, shaving creams, and liquid soap concentrates. Its coconut fatty acid profile provides a balanced ratio of C8–C14 chains that foam well across a range of water temperatures and hardness levels.
