MoS₂ as a Solid Lubricant
Molybdenum disulfide has a layered hexagonal crystal structure in which weakly bonded sulfur layers slide easily over each other, providing exceptional solid lubrication at very low friction coefficients (0.03–0.08). Unlike oil-film lubrication, MoS₂ operates effectively at extreme pressures and temperatures, in vacuum, and under high-radiation environments where liquid lubricants fail. It is applied as a dry film by burnishing, spraying (bonded coatings), or as an additive in greases, oils, and engineering plastics.
Kwaliteiten en verpakking
Terracore supplies standard technical grade (1–6 µm median particle size) and ultrafine grades (<1 µm) for coating and plastic applications. Available in 20 kg drums or 5 kg jars. COA reports purity (XRF), particle-size distribution (laser diffraction), and moisture. SDS is provided.
