Caprolactam as the Nylon-6 Monomer

Caprolactam is the cyclic amide monomer that undergoes ring-opening polymerisation to produce nylon-6 (PA6), one of the most important engineering thermoplastics and synthetic textile fibers globally. Nylon-6 fiber is used in hosiery, carpeting, sportswear, and tyre cord. PA6 engineering compounds are used in automotive parts, gears, bearings, and cable sheaths.
