L-Carnitine Tartrate Supplier South Africa

What Is L-Carnitine Tartrate?

L-Carnitine tartrate is the tartrate salt of L-carnitine, offering improved stability over free L-carnitine and equivalent bioavailability. L-Carnitine is a naturally occurring amino acid derivative that is essential for the transport of long-chain fatty acids across the inner mitochondrial membrane, where they undergo beta-oxidation to generate ATP. Skeletal muscle, heart, and liver are particularly reliant on adequate carnitine status.

Benefits Across Species

In swine, L-carnitine supplementation of sow diets improves litter size, piglet birth weight, and milk composition. In broilers it enhances feed efficiency and breast meat yield by promoting fatty acid oxidation as an energy source. In companion animals and horses it supports weight management, cardiovascular health, and endurance performance. For aquaculture species, L-carnitine improves fat utilisation in high-lipid diets and supports growth in fasting or stress conditions.

Supplementation and Supply

Terracore Chemicals supplies pharmaceutical- and feed-grade L-carnitine tartrate for premix incorporation, water-soluble supplement production, and functional pet food manufacturing. We can advise on optimum inclusion rates by species and target outcome, as well as on compatibility with other functional additives.
