Salt (Sodium Chloride) Feed Grade Supplier South Africa

What is Feed Grade Salt?

Feed-grade sodium chloride (salt) is one of the most fundamental mineral ingredients in compound animal feeds, providing the essential macrominerals sodium and chloride at precise levels to meet nutritional requirements. It is available in granular and fine ground forms with a purity of at least 97% NaCl. Feed-grade salt is free from impurities that could interfere with livestock health, and is typically sourced from evaporated sea salt or mined rock salt.

Rol in dierevoeding

Sodium and chloride are essential electrolytes for maintaining osmotic pressure, water balance, acid-base equilibrium, and nerve impulse transmission in all animal species. In poultry, sodium chloride contributes to normal growth, eggshell quality, and heat stress management. In swine, sodium balance is critical for growth performance and reproductive efficiency. Salt also enhances feed palatability and stimulates voluntary feed intake across all species. Electrolyte balance in the diet is particularly important during heat stress, illness, and rapid growth phases.
